About Christine

I am a doctoral candidate in the Earth and Environmental Sciences program at the Graduate Center, City University of New York, and an Adjunct Professor in the Biology Department at the College of Staten Island.

My research focuses on how microplastic particles interact with suspension feeding zooplankton in marine and estuarine environments.  I am most interested in how photochemical oxidation and biofilms affect the binding of toxic metals to microplastic surfaces and how they serve as a vector of toxic metals when ingested by zooplankton.

I love gardening for wildlife and native pollinators.

I am based at the Wallace Lab at the CUNY College of Staten Island
