ABOUT CHRISTINE
I am currently a doctoral candidate in the Earth and Environmental Sciences program at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York and serve as an Adjunct Professor in the Biology and Engineering and Environmental Science departments at the College of Staten Island. My research investigates the interactions between microplastic particles and suspension-feeding zooplankton in marine and estuarine ecosystems. I am particularly interested in how photochemical oxidation and biofilms influence the binding of toxic metals to microplastic surfaces and their role as vectors for these metals when consumed by zooplankton. I have a passion for gardening that supports wildlife and native pollinators. I am affiliated with the Wallace Lab at CUNY College of Staten Island.
